DESCRIPTION

General: This hardy fish is actually a color morph, derived from captive breeding of the Tiger Barb (Puntius tetrazona). The Albino Tiger Barb can live up to ten years and will reach a length of three inches. The Green Tiger Barb can make a great addition to other small fish with a semi-aggressive nature.

Fecundity: This egg-scattering fish can produce up to 700 eggs per clutch. To encourage a courtship dance, feed live foods while maintaining a pH around 7 and a water temperature between 75-78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Preferred Water Chemistry: Slightly acidic (6.5-7.2 pH), intermediate water hardness (3-12 dGH)

Aquarium Diet: Brine shrimp, baby brine shrimp, blackworms, spirulina, general flake food.

Compatibility: The Albino Tiger Barb is aggressive in comparison to most other small fish within the hobby. It is best to keep them in a tank size of 29 gallons or larger. It is ideal to have only a single aggressive individual or keep in schools larger than six. The Albino Tiger Barb will likely nip at any elegant, elongated fins of slower moving fish.
