Appearance
- Color varies from almost white to pale green, depending on whether it's dry or wet
- Leaves are linear-lanceolate, curved, and crowded on the stem
- Stems are brown, brittle, and lack a central strand in cross-section
Habitat
- Found on old logs, stumps, soil, rock, and the bases of trees
- Thrives in indirect sunlight or partial shade
- Prefers temperatures between 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F)
- Loves high humidity
Growth
- Can form small to very large dense cushions
- Can occur as individual stems among other bryophytes
- During dry spells, they may appear pale, almost white, transitioning to a darker green when moistened
